Why do I run out of hot water so quickly? There are many reasons for running out of hot water quickly. The worst time for this is while you are showering. Some of the reasons for not having enough hot water are: - Not enough hot water capacity in your water heater and / or storage.
- Defective heating elements in your water heater.
- Build up of sediment in the bottom of your water heater reducing the ability of your heater to heat the water quickly and efficiently.
What are off-peak tariffs? Off peak 1 is where the energy is available only during a restricted period of 8-10 hour, generally this being available between 11:00pm to 7:00am. Off peak2 extended off-peak is where energy is available for 16 hours or more each day and turned off only during the overall supply system peak demand periods. Large capacity electric hot water systems, 250 litre and above, are normally connected to off-peak power. Smaller systems are generally connected to domestic, continuous tariff.
